Research Update

In the spring of 2005, National
Jewish Medical and Research Center combined forces with the Colorado Springs
Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency to study contamination
found in methamphetamine labs.
Two Red P cooks were conducted to identify the chemicals that
are generated during a cook, how far contamination is spread throughout a
meth lab, and what the concentration of these chemicals is 24 hours after

Implementation of the Cleanup Regulation

The
State’s new meth lab cleanup regulations became effective on March 30, 2005.
Since that time, I have been consulted on several questions regarding
implementation of the regulations. The most common questions have been
centered around sampling requirements. Although many of the questions
are project specific, there are several common issues that are worth
discussing.
